Ensimmäinen askel / The first step

Olen tavannut lukuisia ihmisiä, jotka ovat jättäytyneet haaveilun asteelle.

Ja siellä he edelleen ovat, haaveilemassa.

On kuitenkin uskallettava ottaa ensimmäinen askel kohti tavoitteen toteutumista.

Ihan pienenkin…

Miksi sen ensimmäisen askeleen ottaminen on niin hankalaa?

Me olemme mestareita keksimään verukkeita ja tekosyitä sille, miksi aika muutokselle ei juuri nyt ole oikea.

Jos jäämme odottamaan sitä oikeaa hetkeä, niin minä kuin sinä tiedämme, että sitä ei koskaan tule.

Valmistellessani Saharan autiomaan halkijuoksua, Arabikevään tapahtumat hankaloittivat merkittävästi mm. juoksureitin suunnittelua ja turvallisuutta.

Moni kehotti luopumaan koko hankkeesta, mutta vastasin heille, että milloin on muka parempi hetki?

Sen aika on nyt !

Ensimmäisen askeleen ottaminen voi karsiutua myös liialliseen itsekriittisyyteen.

Osaanko, olenko tarpeeksi hyvä.

Opimme tekemällä, mutta emme odottamalla.

Kun aloin aikoinaan suunnittelemaan Kalaharin autiomaan ylitystä, niin en tiennyt mitään kansainvälisen retkikunnan johtamisesta.

Otin vaan ensimmäisen askeleen kohti tavoitetta ja ihan hyvä siitä lopulta tuli.

Vain tekemällä oppii.

Why is taking that first step so difficult?

We are masters at coming up with excuses and reasons why the time for change is not right now.

If we keep waiting for the perfect moment, both you and I know that it will never come.

While preparing for my run across the Sahara Desert, the events of the Arab Spring significantly complicated things like route planning and safety.

Many people urged me to abandon the whole project, but I answered them: when exactly would be a better time?

The time is now!

Taking the first step can also be hindered by excessive self-criticism.

Can I do it, am I good enough.

We learn by doing, not by waiting.

When I first started planning the crossing of the Kalahari Desert, I knew nothing about leading an international expedition.

I just took the first step, and in the end it turned out quite well.

You only learn by doing.
