Warrior Ethos

Se viittaa periaatteisiin, arvoihin ja asenteisiin, joiden mukaan soturi (tai sotilashenkilö) toimii.
Termiä käytetään siis usein armeijoissa, mutta myös laajemmin kuvaamaan kurinalaista, rohkeaa ja velvollisuudentuntoista elämäntapaa.
“Warrior ethos” sisältää yleensä esimerkiksi nämä arvot:
Rohkeus – uskallus toimia vaikeissa ja vaarallisissa tilanteissa
Kunnia – toimiminen moraalisesti oikein ja rehellisesti
Velvollisuus – tehtävän hoitaminen loppuun asti
Uhrautuminen – oman mukavuuden tai turvallisuuden asettaminen toissijaiseksi
Lojaliteetti – uskollisuus ryhmälle, maalle tai arvoille
Nykyään “warrior ethos” voi tarkoittaa myös yleisemmin mielenlaatua, jossa ihminen kestää vastoinkäymisiä, pysyy kurinalaisena ja taistelee tavoitteidensa puolesta.

Steven Pressfield has written a booklet for American soldiers called The Warrior Ethos.
It refers to the principles, values, and attitudes according to which a warrior (or a soldier) acts.
The term is therefore often used in the military, but it is also used more broadly to describe a disciplined, courageous, and duty-driven way of life.
The “warrior ethos” usually includes values such as the following:
Courage – the willingness to act in difficult and dangerous situations
Honor – acting in a morally right and honest way
Duty – carrying out one’s task to the end
Sacrifice – placing one’s own comfort or safety second
Loyalty – faithfulness to one’s group, country, or values
Today, the term “warrior ethos” can also refer more generally to a mindset in which a person endures adversity, remains disciplined, and fights for their goals.
