Miksipä ei eli Why not?

Tapaan luentokeikoilla paljon ihmisiä. Monet tulevat juttelemaan esiintymiseni jälkeen ja kysyvät “miksi?”. Why, oh why, would you do something so foolish. ?

Minun vastaus on yhtä lyhyt…”miksipä ei”. Why not?

Kannustan heittäytymään johonkin uuteen ja ehkä oudolta tuntuvaan asiaan ja sanomaan rohkeasti “miksipä ei?”.

Olen tavannut muutaman kerran Sitran entisen yliasiamiehen Mikko Kososen.

Joskus on istuttu neukkarissa, joskus käyty lenkillä.

Hän antoi minulle kirjan nimeltä “Nopea strategia”, jonka otin mukaan Etelämantereellekin.

Kososen mukaan “yritykset eivät suinkaan kuole siihen, että tekevät vääriä asioita, vaan siihen, että ne jatkavat aikanaan oikeiden asioiden tekemistä liian pitkään”.

Mielestäni Suomi ja me suomalaiset olemme olleet tässä tilanteessa. On tehty asioita pitkään samoin ja katsokaa numeroita.

Ne eivät valehtele.

I meet a lot of people on my lecture tours. Many come to talk to me after my performance and ask, “Why, oh why, would you do something so foolish”?

My answer is just as short… “why not?”

I encourage people to throw themselves into something new and maybe a bit strange, and to boldly say, “why not?”

I’ve met Mr. Mikko Kosonen, Sitra’s (Finnish Innovation Fund) former President, a few times.

Sometimes we’ve sat in a meeting room, sometimes we’ve gone for a run.

He gave me a book called Fast Strategy, which I even took with me to Antarctica.

According to Mr. Kosonen, “companies don’t die because they do the wrong things, but because they keep doing what used to be the right things for far too long.”

In my view, Finland and we Finns have been in this situation. We’ve done things the same way for a long time, and just look at the numbers.

They don’t lie.
