Mitä pelkäät eniten? What are you most afraid of?

Palaan vielä hetkeksi eiliseen “Charged life” -blogikirjoitukseeni.

Kotiuduttuani ensimmäiseltä Grönlannin jäätikköreissulta Suomeen, olin erään sanomalehden haastateltavana.

Haastattelun lopuksi toimittaja kysyi minulta “mitä pelkäät eniten?”.

Hän ilmiselvästi odotti minun kertovan henkeä salpaavista (ja uhkaavista) kokemuksistani aavikoilla ja jäätiköillä, mutta vastasin…”pelkään, että ajaudun joskus ns. mukavan elämän pauloihin”.

Been there-done that!

Perustelin vastaustani parhaan kykyni mukaan, mutta ilmeisen huonolla menestyksellä.

Vastauksessani ei ollut hiuksia nostattavia draaman aineksia, joten sitä ei julkaistu

Huomenna pureudun aiheeseen “tiimi”.

I want to return for a moment to yesterday’s “Charged Life” blog post.

After I got back to Finland from my first glacier expedition in Greenland, I was interviewed by a newspaper.

At the end of the interview, the journalist asked me: “What are you most afraid of?”

He was clearly expecting me to describe some breath-taking (and life-threatening) experiences from deserts and glaciers, but I replied… “I’m afraid that someday I’ll drift into the so-called trap of a comfortable life.”

Been there—done that!

I explained my answer as well as I could, but apparently not very successfully.

My answer didn’t contain the kind of hair-raising drama they were looking for, so it was never published.

Tomorrow I’ll dive into the topic of “team.”
